We are happy to report that 7700 people took action and the amendment was soundly defeated by of vote of 60 -38. This was the third time in three months that we had to ask you to help in the fight to protect the Transportation Enhancements program by reminding your Senators that this program is a critical and beneficial transportation program.
I was very disappointed to see Sen. Portman, R-OH, vote with Rand. He's a young, energetic fellow from my district who was tapped by Pres. Bush to move up when he was in the House. He took the 2nd OH Senate seat recently. I sent him a nastygram urging him to reconsider and to support projects that promote cycling and recognize theimportance of cycling in the national transportation policy.
