Go Zac! I'm proud of you and what you did. We need many more people like you to help encourage healthy exercises like biking. Tell everybody that they need to wear helmets when biking for safety.

Kudos to Zac, this was a great idea for a senior activity and I also hope the tradition continues. May it spur the city and school to become more involved with Safe Routes to School so that students can ride every day if they want, not just on the last day of school. And also for future rides: please protect those brains and set the good example by wearing helmets!

Just as I was about to give up on high school kids along comes someone like Zac and renews my faith in today's youth. With a few more like him, we can be assured that our future rests secured.
Zac, you can be proud of your initiative and organizational abilities.

This is Zac Totten, thanks for the awesome story on our bike ride! I'm not a cyclist but I do love the Tour De France. To add to my bicycling resume, I've been to France and I have even seen the tour go through a town.

Thanks for all the positive feed back and to answer Darren I'm headed to Syracuse NY to play hockey this fall and winter hopefully pick up a scholarship while I'm out there, and then go into political science but event planning has crossed my mind! KNIGHTS RIDE TOGETHER!

If Zak had asked for permission, we can all guess what the response would have been--NOOOOOO, you'll shoot yer eye out!!! (with reference to Ralphie's mom in A Christmas Story).

There is that old expression, "better to ask forgiveness than ask permission". In this case, it was certainly true, and the egg facials worn by school administrators were well deserved.

We need to fix our roads so they are less one-dimensional for sure, ie, make them complete streets. But even with normal roads, we need to encourage cycling and discourage bad driving.

When I was a kid in rural Alden, N.Y. (east of Buffalo), I lived about seven miles from our school. It was not uncommon to ride all the way to school, and that involved riding on roads like U.S. 20, NY 33 and Walden Avenue, all high speed roads and truck routes. It was also common for adults to respect the rights of us kids to have our independent mobility. With Helicopter Parents nowdays doing just the opposite, I am glad I am not a kid in this era of over-protection and irresponsible driving.

Three cheers for the graduating class of Kenowa Hills High, and all the best as they enter the real world. Keep fighting the good fight, and always challenge authority.
